In a heartwarming initiative that puts compassion into action, Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt) Ltd., in collaboration with the Meththa Foundation, has introduced HumaniTill – a nationwide movement that transforms everyday generosity into life-changing support for people living with limb loss across Sri Lanka.

Turning Simple Giving into a Symbol of Hope

HumaniTill is no ordinary donation box. Shaped like a life-sized human figure fitted with a transparent prosthetic arm and leg, the installation is a striking visual reminder of thousands of Sri Lankans who have lost limbs due to illness, injury, or accidents. Every coin dropped into HumaniTill represents more than charity—it’s a tangible step toward giving someone the gift of mobility, independence, and dignity.

“At Maliban, we believe our responsibility goes beyond making great biscuits—it’s about giving back to the communities that have trusted us for generations,” said a Maliban spokesperson. “With HumaniTill, we wanted to create a powerful connection between the act of giving and the life-changing outcomes it creates.”

Immediate Impact, Real Lives Changed

Launched during the sacred Poson Poya season in Anuradhapura—one of Sri Lanka’s most significant religious observances—HumaniTill was placed at revered holy sites including Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanwelisaya, before moving to Katharagama during Esala Poya the following month. Thousands of devotees joined hands in this movement, linking spiritual generosity with real-world impact.

Within just 41 hours, donations collected through HumaniTill funded four below-knee prosthetic limbs, each costing approximately Rs. 60,000 (USD 200). These contributions will directly help individuals on waiting lists, restoring not just their ability to walk but also their confidence and independence.

“This is what the Meththa Foundation stands for—bringing mobility and dignity back to people who thought they’d never walk again,” said a representative from the Foundation. “HumaniTill bridges a gap between generosity and real change in a way that’s never been done before.”

A Nationwide Movement for Humanity

This initiative marks the beginning of a much larger mission. Over the coming months, HumaniTill will travel to 12 major places of worship across Sri Lanka, coinciding with key religious festivals to harness moments of collective compassion. Plans are also underway to install HumaniTill units in public spaces and high-footfall areas, making it easier for everyone to be part of this life-changing cause.

Through this collaboration, Maliban and Meththa Foundation have shown that corporate social responsibility can go beyond donations—it can inspire communities to join hands and take action for those in need.

Creativity Meets Purpose

The idea for HumaniTill was brought to life with the creative expertise of TBWA\Sri Lanka, ensuring the campaign would not just collect funds but also touch hearts and inspire a nationwide movement.

“This project reflects what happens when a brand, a foundation, and creative minds unite for humanity,

HumaniTill is a reminder that even small acts of kindness can help someone stand tall again.”

By reimagining how people give, Maliban and Meththa Foundation have turned the simple act of placing change in a till into something far greater—a movement of hope, empathy, and humanity.
